Ignorance Can Be Deadly
Incurable Me – why the best medical research does not make it into clinical practice by K. Paul Stoller, M.D.
Dr. Stoller was a board-certified pediatric physician for 20 years, and specializes in treating children and adults with brain injuries and disorders. He is known for pioneering the use of hyperbaric oxygen with babies with fetal alcohol syndrome and is an expert in functional medicine, which uses diet and natural supplements alongside conventional medicine. Although he delves into areas that are highly controversial, like the connection between corporate funding of research and policy decisions and legislation that favors these companies, I found this book to be highly scientific, almost a bit too much for a layman, and meticulously documented.
Through his research, Dr. Stoller has been able to link a great many disabilities directly to the prevalence of pesticides and neurotoxins in our food, our environment and in our vaccines. Although he goes pretty far down the rabbit hole into what might be called conspiracy theory, it is difficult to ignore the copious evidence he cites from mainstream scientific journals and testimony from respected scientists. It has become cliché to point out the dependency of academia on big Pharma funding, but Stoller does cite many proven examples. What was new for me was the revelation that the government itself – through agencies like the NIH and FDA – actually holds the patents to many drugs and vaccines that they also profit from.
The intent of the information in the book is not so much to scare us, though it certainly does that; the intent is to expose the causal links behind many of the chronic illnesses plaguing us so we can have a hope of curing them. Illnesses like Lyme disease, Alzheimer’s, MS, Parkinson’s, autism, IBS, and Crohn’s disease can be shown to be connected to identifiable viruses and bacteria. While some people may be more genetically disposed to get certain diseases, they are only triggered when their systems are debilitated by toxins such as DDT, Mercury, and aluminum. If you thought DDT was banned, it turns out that, DDE, created by changing one little OH molecule in the formula, is now being used instead and with the same dire consequences. The good news is that the human body is remarkably resilient and given the right supportive therapies can heal itself. This does not happen overnight, however, but at least people can now have hope for a cure instead of despair.
There is much information in this book that will make you shake your head with disbelief. I can only suggest that you read it and follow up by checking out the references at the end of the book to convince yourself whether or not to believe it. There is a lot of valuable information on how to preserve your health or restore it should you become ill, but you would probably want to seek out a holistic-minded health advisor to guide you. If you are a health practitioner you absolutely owe it to your patients and to your conscience to read this book. They say that information is power – I truly hope so.
