Anna Borgeryd – a Bright Light from Sweden
I picked up Anna Borgeryd’s novel, Integrity, to prepare for my interview with her and happily said goodbye to sleep for the next few days. It is a love story between two graduate students of economics, which also illuminates some really important issues we need to consider as a global society that is rapidly approaching various environmental, economic, political and social tipping points. Being also a screenwriter, the characters are deftly drawn and voice to the passion we see growing around us for making a difference in the world, as well as to the human greed and fear of change that fuel the grim determination to protect business as usual at any cost.
What originally interested me in the book was Anna’s background as a writer, speaker, award-winning environmentalist and businessperson. She has a doctorate in conflict management, and is the Chair of her family’s bakery business, which she has grown into an impressive model of success and sustainability that should be studied and replicated. Her vibrant spirit can be heard in our INTERVIEW HERE, and I warmly recommend her book Integrity, something we really need more of in our world. The book is coming in March from New Internationalist.
